The pressure exerted by a cuboid of dimension 4×6×10.(in metres) that is resting on it's smallest side is 30N-². if it is resting on it's largest side, what is the pressure exerted by it?

From question, we have;

  • Dimension of the cuboid = 4 × 6 × 10
  • Pressure because of its small side = 30 Nm-²

Now, the smallest side would be 4 × 6, and its area will be,

  • 4 × 6 = 24 m²

Now the force to be applied is,

P = F/A

30 = F/24

30 × 24 = F

720 N = F

Now, the largest side would be 6 × 10, with area:

  • 6 × 10 = 60 m²

and, pressure exerted is,

P = F/A

P = 720/60

P = 12 N m-²

Thus,the pressure excerted by the largest side of the cuboid will be 12 Nm-².
