let the no: of mangoes = x

the no: of pineapples = y

total no: of mangoes and pineapples = 42

x + y = 42------1

price of 42 mangoes and pineapples = rs9 = 900 paisa

cost of each mango = 30 paisa

cost of each pineapple = 10 paisa

30x + 10y = 900--------2

sub eq 1 and 2

1 (30x + 10y = 900)

10 ( x +. y = 42)

30x + 10y = 900

10x. + 10y = 420.

symbol change........ then 10y will be cancelled

20x. = 480

x = 480/20

x = 24

therefore no: of mangoes = 24

I think this is the answer.......... I hope it helps you
