Given:-

  • Price of the Sweater in the starting(Cost Price) = ₹ 960

  • Price of the Sweater after slashing(Selling Price)  = ₹ 816

To Find:-

  • Rate of discount which is given by him.

Calculating:-

  • First we have to find the amount that has been discounted.

For that we use the Formula:-

  • = Cost Price - Selling Price

  • Substituting values that are known to us in this formula we get:

  • => 960 - 816

=> ₹ 144

  • Therefore, the discounted price is ₹ 144.

  • Now, We have to calculate the discount percentage.

  • To calculate the discount percentage we use the formula:

  • Discount Percentage = Discounted Price / Cost Price x 100

  • Substituting all the values which we know into this equation we get:

  • = 144/960 x 100

  • = 0.15 x 100

= 15 %

  • Therefore, the rate of discount that is given to him is 15 %.

Given :

The price of a sweater was slashed from ₹ 960 to ₹816 by a shopkeeper in the winter season.

To find :

Find the rate of discount given by him.

Solution :

Cost price = ₹ 960

Selling price = ₹ 816

∴ Discount = ₹ (960 - 816) = ₹ 144

∵ Discount depends on the cost price.

∴ Rate of discount = (Discount/Cost price) × 100

                               = (144/960) × 100  %

                                = 1440/96 %

                                = 15%

Rate of discount = 15%
