The price of an entry ticket to a fun fair for a child is ` 3 more than half the price of the entry ticket for an adult. If a total of ` 186 is spent on buying 5 tickets for adults and 8 tickets for children, then what is the price of the entry ticket for a child?

Answer:

Let the price of ticket for an adult be p. It is given

3+(1/2)×p=price of ticket for child. It is given

5p+8×{3+p/2}=186

5p+24+4p=186

9p=162

p=162/9=18

Ticket for child=3+(18/2)=12
