Let there be x children and y adults.

So,

x + y = 50 ...(1)

Again Rs 100 is the price of a ticket for children and Rs 250 is for adults.

So, money from x children = 100x and money from y adults = 250y.

Thus,

100x + 250y = 8600

⇒ 4x + 10y = 344             [Dividing both sides by 25]

Putting x as 50-y from (1), we get.

⇒ 4(50-y) + 10y = 344

⇒ 200 - 4y + 10y = 344

⇒ 6y = 144

⇒ y = 144/6 = 24   (No. of adults)

x = 50 - y

= 50 -24
