So, initial expenditure=Y×X

So , according to question, the new price of petrol will be

X/100×115=X×23/20

Let reduced consumption be =A

Then,

(X×23/20)×A=Y×X

=>A = Y×20/23

And A in percentage = 86.956521739130% of Y

So new consumption = Y×20/23 or 86.956521739130%

Hence ,a man should decrease his consumption by about (100- 20×100/23) %=13.043478260869%
