=> price = x×(1+20%) =x×(1.2)

=1.2x

let the consumption decrease by m%

=> consumption = c×(1-m%) , so that

1.2x × c(1-m) = e

e =xc

1.2x× c(1-m) =xc

xc × 1.2×(1-m) =xc

1.2×(1-m) = 1

1-m =1/1.2 = 0.8333

m =1-0.833 = 0.167

m%=0.167×100 = 16.7%

consumption of sugar is decreased by 16.7%
