EVALUATION

Let original price of sugar = Rs 100

Now it is given that the consumption of sugar is 15 kg before the increment

So before the increment

Expenditure

= Price × Consumption

= Rs ( 100 × 15 )

= Rs 1500

Now the price of sugar is increased by 28%

So new price of sugar = Rs 128

Again the increment in the expenditure of sugar is only 20%

So new expenditure

$\displaystyle \sf{ =Rs \: \: 1500 \times \frac{120}{100} }$

= Rs 1800

So the new consumption

$\displaystyle \sf{ = \frac{1800}{128} \: \: kg}$

$\displaystyle \sf{ = \frac{450}{32} \: \: kg}$

$\displaystyle \sf{ = \frac{225}{16} \: \: kg}$
