The price of sugar rises by 25%. If a family wants to keep their expenses on sugar the same as earlier, the family will have to decrease its consumption of sugar by? ​

Let the original price of sugar be x.

After increasing 25% price of sugar =25/100×x

=x/4.

=x+x/4 =5x/4.

Now the new price of sugar to be decreased to restore original price =5x/4-x

=x/4.
