the principal said I cannot help you change into indirect speech​

Direct Speech :-

The principal said , "I cannot help you."

Indirect Speech :-

The principal said that he could not help me .

OR

The principal told that he could not help me .

Rules :-

• Remove the comma ( both inverted and simple comma ) while converting to Indirect Speech .
• Add 'said that' if there is no person specified to whom the direct speech is told .
• Add 'told to ..' if there is a subject given and then add 'that' .
• Change the tenses while converting from Direct to Indirect speech like ;

1. Cannot - Could not
2. Will not - Would not
3. May not - Might not

( Remove the not if positive tense is given )
