Answer:

Probability of winning award for design, P(0)=0.23

Probability of winning award for fuel efficiency P(E)=0.35

Probability of winning both award =0.15=P(D∩E)

P(D)+P(E)=P(D∪E)+P(D∩E)

P(D∪E)=P(D)+P(E)−P(D∩E)

=0.25+0.35−0.15

=0.45

Probability of winning one award =0.45

Probability that it will get only one of them =P(D

1

∩E)+P(D∩E

1

)

=P(D)−P(D∩E)+P(E)−P(D∩E)

=0.25+0.35−2(0.45)

=0.3
