Given:

The Probability that there is at least one error in an account statement prepared by A is 0.3 for B is 0.4 and for C it is 0.45

A,B and C prepared 20,10 and 40 statements respectively

To Find:

the expected number of correct statements.

Solution:

At least one error in an account statement prepared by A is 0.3

No Error by A = 1 - 0.3 = 0.7

Expected correct Statement by A = 20 ( 0.7) = 14

At least one error in an account statement prepared by B is 0.4

No Error by B = 1 - 0.4 = 0.6

Expected correct Statement by B = 10 ( 0.6) = 6

At least one error in an account statement prepared by C is 0.45

No Error by C = 1 - 0.45 = 0.55

Expected correct Statement by C = 40 ( 0.55) =22

Expected Number of correct Statements = 14 + 6  + 22 =  42

The expected number of correct statements is 42
