1. The source material for rayon is wood pulp and it is obtained from plant's cellulose.
2. the cellulose is collected from wood or bamboo pulp and it is treated with several chemicals.
3. the cellulose first treated with sodium hydroxide.(NaOH)and next with carbon disulphide (CS2).
4. by dissolving in these chemicals cellulose gives syrup called viscose.
5. the viscose is forced through a spinnernet into a solution of di sulpuric acid and this gives us silk like threads.
6. these silk threads are cleaned with soap and dried.

    7.this new fibre is called rayon which is also called as artificial silk.
