→It is given that Product of a number and 4 increased by 16 is -2.

Let the number be k.

→ 4 k  +16  = -2

Bringing constant on one side and variable on another side

→ 4 k  = -2 - 16

→ 4 k = - 18

Dividing both side by 4, we get

→k = \frac{-18}{4}

k = - 4.5

So , the number is -4.5.
