the product of the ages of Karishma and Kareena is 600 years . Five years ago the sum of their ages was 45 years, find the present age of both. I

Let present age of karishma = x 
                    age  of kareena   = 600/x

5 years ago, age of karishma = x -  5 
                      age of kareena   = 600/x - 5 

Sum of their ages was = 45
            (x - 5) + $(\frac{600 - 5x}{x} )$ = 45

⇒ x(x - 5) + (600 - 5x) = 45x 

⇒ x² - 5x + 600 - 5x - 45x = 0 

⇒  x² - 55x + 600 = 0 

⇒  x² - (40 + 15)x + 600 = 0 

⇒ x²  - 40x - 15x + 600 =  0 

⇒ x(x - 40) - 15(x - 40) = 0 

⇒ (x - 15)(x - 40) = 0 

⇒ x = 15 or    x =  40

Age of karishma = 15 { if we take x = 15}
Age of kareena   = 600/15 = 40

Age of  kareena  = (600/40) = 15
