Let the other number be 'x'

So, According to question

⇢ \frac{5}{4}  - x =   \frac{ - 3}{4}

⇢-x =   \frac{ - 3}{4}  -  \frac{5}{4}

⇢ - x =   \frac{ - 3 - 5}{4}

⇢ - x =  \frac{ - 8}{4}

⇢ - x =  - 2

  • Minus cancelled by minus . So,

Value of x = 2

Verification:-

⇢ \frac{5}{4}  - x =   \frac{ - 3}{4}

  • Put x = 2

⇢ \frac{5}{4}  - 2 =   \frac{ - 3}{4}

⇢ \frac{5-8}{4}  =   \frac{ - 3}{4}

⇢ \frac{-3}{4} =   \frac{ - 3}{4}

Hence other number is 2.
