a x \frac{-1}{6} = \frac{-7}{8}

a = \frac{-7}{8}  ÷ \frac{-1}{6}

a = \frac{-7}{8}  × \frac{-6}{1}

a = \frac{42}{8} = \frac{21}{4}

a = 5.25

∴ The other number is 5.25 or \frac{21}{4}
