Answer:

let the multiples be x and (x+10)

Product of multiples = x(x+10)

                                  = x^{2}+10x

x^{2}+10x = 1200

To convert the following to a perfect square, we take the square of half of 10

= (10/2)^{2}

= 5^{2}

= 25

So the equation becomes = x² + 10x + 25 = 1200 + 25

                                           = (x+5)² = 1225

                                           = (x+5) = √1225

                                           = (x+5) = 35

Therefore x = 35-5

                   = 30

So the numbers are 30 and 40
