Answer:

The quartile deviation of the given variable is 10.

Given:

The quartiles of a variable are 45,52,65 respectively.

To find:

Its quartile deviation.

Solution:

Quartile deviation is half the difference between the third and the first quartile of a frequency distribution.

Here Q_{1} = 45, Q_{2}  = 52, Q_{3} =65

Q_{d} = \frac{(Q_{3}- \mathrm{Q}_{1})}{2}

 = \frac{(65 - 45)}{2}

 = \frac{20}{2}

Q_{d}= 10 is the quartile deviation of the series.
