Math, asked by idiot2006, 1 month ago

The question ( Talking about no. 1 only ) was to express the equations in the form of ax + by + c . Also , it was asked to find out the values of a , b and c . Please somebody explain me why are the answers multiplied on both sides ? Does this mean that we cannot have the values of the constants as whole numbers ?

I am assuming your question is about the variables, if I am wrong please let me know. Thanks for your request.

Important!

  • Term

→ A term is each value that is connected by addition or subtraction.

  • Coefficient

→ A coefficient is a multiplier for a variable. It is connected with the variable by multiplication or division.

  • Constant

→ A constant is a term that is not affected by variables.

Solution!

Let's see what actually are a,b,c. Here, a,b are multiplied to the variables x,y so they are coefficients. c is not affected by variables since it does not have a relation with variables. It is a constant.

  • a is a coefficient of x.
  • b is a coefficient of y.
  • c is a constant.

So, when the question asks us to find a,b,c in ax+by+c=0, it is asking us to differentiate between variables, coefficients, and constants.

Remember!

A coefficient affects a variable, while a constant never does.
