Answer:

To divide fractions:

You need to multiply the first fraction with the reciprocal of the second fraction.

Note:

Reciprocal of fractions with negative numerator/deniminator:

Even if only the numerator or only the denominator is negative, the whole fraction gets a single minus sign.

For example,

 \frac{ - 2}{ \ \: 3}  =  \frac{  \: \: 2}{ - 3}  =   - \frac{2}{3}

Therefore, even if the denominator comes in place of the negtive numerator, the minus sign remains in the place of numerator.

Let's divide now:

1. 2/3 ÷ -4/19

= 2/3 × -9/4

=> 1/1 × -3/2

=> -3/2

2. -3/16 ÷ 15/8

= -3/16 × 8/15

=> -1/2 × 1/5 (

=> -1/10

3. -8/-9 ÷ -16/-7 (Note: -/- = +/+, so -8/-9 = 8/9 & -16/-7 = 16/7)

=> 8/9 ÷ 16/7

=> 8/9 × 7/16

=> 1/9 = 7/2

=> 7/18

4. -15/14 ÷ -5/21 (Note: - × - = +)

=> -15/14 × -21/5

=> -3/2 × -3/1

=> 9/2

5. (-5 = -5/1)

=> -5/1 ÷ -7/16

=> -5/1 × -16/7

=> 80/7

6. -40/99 ÷ -20/1

=> -40/99 × -1/20

=> 2/99

7. -3/16
