The radii of two cylinder are in ratio2:3 and their heights are in the ratio 7:3.find the ratio of their volume.

naina62: Let the radii be r1 = 2x and r2 = 3x. Height be h1 = 7y and h2 = 3y. Then,
naina62: V1/V2 = πr1²h1/πr2²h2 = 4x²×7y/9x²×3y = 28/27 = 28:27

Let radius of 1st cylinder be r1
" " " 2nd " be r2
Let height of 1st cylinder be h1
" " " 2nd "" " h2

Vol . 1st cylinder/vol. 2nd cylinder
= pi (r1)²h1 / pi (r2)² h2
= 2² x 7 / 3² x 3
= 28/27
:. Ratio is 28:27

Given Ratio of radii = 2:3

Given Ratio of height = 7:3.

Then,

Ratio of volumes V1/V2 = (r1^2 * h1)/(r2^2 * h2)

                                        = (2^2 * 7)/(3^2 * 3)

                                        = (4 * 7)/(9 * 3)

                                        = 28/27.

The ratio of volume = 28:27.

Hope this helps!
