Length of chord = 8 cm
Radius of circle = 6 cm
as we know it is perpendicular so 8 must be the hypotenuse 
so perpendicular distance= 
root of 8 square - 6 square
root 64-36
root 28

R=6 chord length is 8 use pythagorus theorm you get (6*6-4*4)^1/2
