Given : Radius of a wire is decreased to one-third.
Original volume ,V1 = πr1²h1
New radius, r2 = ⅓ r1
New volume , V2 = πr2²h2
V1 = V2
[ Given : volume remains the same]
πr1²h1 = πr2²h2
r1²h1 = r2²h2
r1²h1 = r2²h2
r1²h1 = (⅓r1)²h2
r1²h1 = 1/9r1²h2
h1 = 1/9h2
h2 = 9h1
Hence, the length will become 9 times.
Option (C) 9 times is the correct option.
