When we need to determine the range of any set of numbers, for example, if we are asked to define the range of the first 'n' whole numbers, we have to collaborate with following formula: Range of first 'n' numbers in the series of whole numbers = [0, n-1], which means zero till 'n-1'.

This happens so because the first whole number is zero and the ending number, consequently, will have to be 'n-1', when we take 'n' numbers into the calculation.
