Hello,
The answer is Anaerobic respiration
Anaerobic respiration is a type of respiration which takes place in the absence of oxygen. The process is not dependent on oxygen.
There are organisms like yeast which can respire in this way and human muscles can also do it when required.
After the process of glycolsis the energy is released in the cytoplasm only. The food doesn't reach to the Mitochondria for complete oxidation instead it gets partially oxidized in the cytoplasm only.
In this process lactic acid and 2 adenosine triphosphate (ATP) are produced.
This is the reason why muscles get fatigue after running lot of working very hard.
The muscles respire anaerobically due to scarcity of oxygen in the body.
Hope this will be helping you ✌️
