Effect of increasing surface area on the rate of a reaction. ... Increasing the surface area of a solid reactant exposes more of its particles to attack. This results in an increased chance of collisions between reactant particles, so there are more collisions in any given time and the rate of reaction increases.

The rate of reaction changes with

1 Nature of the reactants

2 Size of the particles of reactants

3 Concentration of reaction

4 Temperature of the reaction

5 Catalyst

It's right that if we increase the surface area of reactants the rate of reaction increases because of increasing in space.

For eg

Water when heated in a pan by spreading it will convert into water vapour by every corner when heated

Or we can also take a food item like butter if we evenly spread it on every side the melting will occur faster .

As heat is transferred

1 Conduction

2 Convection

3 Radiation.

Hope I help you in your answer .
