Answer:

B. 12 years

Step-by-step explanation:

let the ratio be 3x : 5x

so, the age of A becomes 3x and B becomes 5x

and, it is given that

B = A+8

5x = 3x + 8

5x - 3x = 8

2x = 8

x = 4

Now, A is 3x so it becomes to be 3 × 4 i.e. 12 years

Answer :-

  • Age of A is 12 years.

Given :-

  • The ratio of ages of A and B is 3:5 and B is 8 years elder than A.

To Find :-

  • A's age.

Solution :-

Let

  • Age of A be x
  • Age of B be x + 8

Here

  • Ratio of ages of A and B is 3 : 5

According to question :-

⇒ 3/5 = x/x + 8

⇒ 3 (x + 8) = 5 × x

⇒ 3x + 24 = 5x

⇒ 24 = 5x - 3x

⇒ 24 = 2x

⇒ x = 24/2

⇒ x = 12

Hence, the age of A is 12 years.
