Let the ratio be 4x (apples) and 9x (oranges)

Given that, there are 250 more aples than oranges => 4x + 250

4x + 250 = 9x

4x - 9x = 250

-5x = 250

-x = \frac{250}{5}

-x = 50

But, the number of fruits can't be negative.

So,

\boxed{x \: = \: 50}

No. of apples => 4x + 250 => 4 × 50 + 250 => 200 + 250 => 450

Answer:

Let the number of oranges be x and apples be y

Now it is given that,

Number of apples = Number of oranges+ 250

=> y = x + 250

=> x / x + 250 = 4 / 9

=> x ( 9 ) = 4 ( x + 250 )

=> 9x = 1000 + 4x

=> 9x - 4x = 1000

=> 5x = 1000

=> x = 1000 / 5 = 200

Hence number of oranges is 200.

Number of apples = 250 + Number of oranges

=> Number of apples = 200 + 250

=> Number of Apples = 450

Hence there are 450 apples.
