Let the no. of boys be x
and no. of girls be y
now according to the question
x:y=4:3
or 3x=4y
y = 3x/4 .....(i)
Also
x+y=49
or x+3x/4=49 ...using (i)
4x+3x=49×4 (by taking LCM)
7x=196
x=28
therefore no. of boys are 28.
