Given:Ratio of boys: girls
=12:5

No.of boys =12x

No.of girls=5x

(where x is a constant)

Total number of girls =5x=840(given)

x=840/5
=168

Total number of boys =168*12
=2016

Total strength of the school = total no.of boys + Total no.of girls = 2866 students

Step-by-step explanation:

ratio of boys : girls (given)

=12:5

let the no. of boys and girls be x

no. of boys =12x

no. of girls =5x

(where x is a constant)

total no. of girls =5x=840 (given)

x=840/5

x=168

total no. of boys =168*12=2016

total strength of school =total no. of boys +total no. of girls=

2016+840=2866 students
