Answer:

Let

Their income 4 : 3 be

4x and 3x

Their expenditure 3 : 2 be

3y and 2y

Savings = 600

Savings = Income - Expenditure

Savings of Jay = 600

600 = 4x - 3y

4x - 3y = 600 ------- ( 1 )

Savings of John = 600

600 = 3x - 2y

3x - 2y = 600 -------- ( 2 )

Equation ( 1 ) × 2

Equation ( 2 ) × 3

8x - 6y = 1200

9x - 6y = 1800

---------------------

- x = - 600

x = 600

Hence ,

x = 600

Substitute x value in any Equation ,

4x - 3y = 600

4 ( 600 ) - 3y = 600

2400 - 600 = 3y

3y = 1800

y = 1800 / 3 = 600

y = 600

Hence ;

Income of Jay = 4x = 4 ( 600 ) = 2,400

Income of John = 3x = 3 ( 600 ) = 1,800

Expenditure of Jay = 3y = 3 ( 600 ) = 1,800

Expenditure of John = 2y = 2 ( 600 ) = 1,200
