The ratio of length and breath of rectangle is 5:6 if perimeter of the rectangle is 16m .find its length and breath ?

Let,

Lenght =6x
Breadth =5x

Perimeter =2(lenght +breadth)

16/2 = 6x+5x

8=11x

8/11 = x


Lenght = 6×(8/11) = 48/11 m

Breadth = 5(8/11) =40/11 m

Perimeter of a rectangle = 16m

Length = ?

Breadth = ?

Solution

Let the breadth and length of the rectangle be 5x and 6x. Then,

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(l + b)

=> 16 = 2(6x + 5x)

=> 16 = 2(11x)

=> 16/2 = 11x

=> 8 = 11x

=> x = 8/11

Hence , length = 6 × 8/11

= 48/11 m

breadth = 5 × 8/11

= 40/11 m
