The ratio of lengths of parallel sides of a trapezium is 3:5. The distance between them is 12 cm. If the area of trapezium is 720 cm^2, find the length of the parallel sides.​

Answer:

let the ratio of sides of given trapezium be x

so,

sides=3xand 5x

area of trapezium=1/2(sum of parallel sides)×height

a/q

720=1/2(3x+5x)×12

720/12=1/2(8x)

60=4x

60/4=x

x=15

1st side

3x=3×15

=45cm

2nd side

5x=5×15

=75cm
