Let the present ages of Geeta andBabita be x and y respectively

5x=4y

x=4y/5.............i

Four year hence,

the age of Geeta becomes=x +4 years

the age of Babita becomes=y+4years

x+4/y+4=14/17

17(x+4)=14(y+4)

17x+68=14y+56

17x-14y=56-68

17x-14y=-12

putting the value of x from (i)

17×4y/5-14y=-12

68y- 70y/5=-12

-2y=-12×5

-2y=-60

y= 30 years

PRESENT AGE OF BABITA=30years
