$\implies 2(a+b) = 40$

$\implies 2( 2x + 3x ) = 40$

$\implies 2\times 5x = 40$

$\implies 10x = 40$

/* Divide both sides by 10 , we get */

$\implies x = 4$

$Now, a = 2x = 2\times 4 = 10\: cm$

$b = 3x = 3\times 4 = 12\: cm$

Therefore.,
