The ratio of the ages of a mother, father and their child is 8:10:3. If the sum of the ages of the father and the
mother is 72 years, then find the difference in the ages of the father and his child.
Answers
Answer:-
Given:-
Ratio of ages of mother, father and their child = 8 : 10 : 3.
Let their ages be 8x , 10x & 3x years.
Sum of ages of mother and father = 72 years
So,
⟹ 8x + 10x = 72
⟹ 18x = 72
⟹ x = 72/18
⟹ x = 4
Now,
Difference between father's age and child's age = 10x - 3x = 7x
⟹ Difference between father's age and child's age = 7(4) = 28 years.
∴ Father's age - Child's age = 28 years.

→ sum of ages of father and mother = 72 years .
→ 10x + 8x = 72
→ 18x = 72
→ x = 4 years .
then,
- Mother age = 8x = 8 * 4 = 32 years.
- Father age = 10x = 10 * 4 = 40 years .
