let x be common multiple

From given condition,

9x+8x+3x+2x/4= 22
x= 4

hence age of eldest person is 9x= 9*4=36

Heya !!!

Ratio of the age of family members are 9:8:3:2

Let X be common multiple to these ages .

Then the age becomes 9X , 8X , 3X and 2X.

According to question,

9X + 8X + 3X + 2X/4 = 22

22X = 22 × 4

22X = 88

X = 88/22 => 4

Age of first person = 9X = 9 × 4 = 36 years

Age of second person = 8X = 8 × 4 = 32 years

Age of third person = 3X = 3 × 4 = 12 years

And,

Age of fourth person = 2X = 2 × 4 = 8 years

Hence,

The age of oldest person is family is 36 years.
