Given :
The ratio of the ages of two student = 3 : 2
One student is elder than other student by 5
To Find :
The age of younger students
Solution :
Let The age of elder student = E years
Let The age of younger student = Y years
According to question
As The ratio of ages = 3 : 2
So, Age of elder student = E = 3 x
Age of younger student = Y = 2 x
And
Age of elder student = 5 + age of younger student
i.e E = 5 + Y
Or, 3 x = 5 + 2 x
Or, 3 x - 2 x = 5
∴ x = 5
So, The age of elder student = E = 3 x = 3 × 5 = 15 years
And, The age of younger student = Y = 2 x = 2 × 5 = 10 years
Hence,
The age of elder student is 15 years
And, The age of younger student is 10 years Answer
