area of bigger square is 475
ratio is 4:5
4:x::5:475
exteram term = 4 × 475
internal term 5 × x
1900=5x
×=1900/5
x=380
area of smaller square = 380 and 475
area of both square is 380+475= 855 cm^2

\textbf{Answer}

Suppose the area of smaller square is x cm^2

Area of bigger square is 475 cm^2

Since the ration of area of smaller and bigger square is 4 : 5

=> x : 445 = 4 : 5

=> x/445 = 4/5

=> x = (4×445)/5

=> x = 4 × 89

=> x = 356

Lets verify our answer,
Ratio of area of smaller to bigger square = 356/445 = 4/5

\textbf{So the area of smaller square is 356 cm^2 }.
