the ratio of the length and breadth of a rectangle is 3:4. when the breadth is decreased by 3 cm and length increased by 2 cm, the ratio becomes 1:2 find the length and breadth of the original rectangle​

Let the length be 'l' and the breadth be 'b'

Given

l : b = 2 : 1

Now Let the new length be 'L' and 'B'

Given

L = l + 2

B = b +3

Formula: Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 ( Length + Breadth)

Now

Perimeter of old rectangle say 'p' = 2 ( l + b )

Perimeter of new rectangle say 'P' = 2 ( L + B )

p : P = 4 : 3

=> 2 ( l + b ) : 2 ( L + B ) = 4 : 3

=> ( l + b ) : ( L + B ) = 4 : 3

=> ( l + b ) : ( l + 2 + b +3 ) = 4 : 3
