Answer:

8.4m

Step-by-step explanation:

FIRST METHOD:

let \: length \: of \: vertical \: pole \: be \: 7x \: and \: of \: its \: shadow \: be \: 2x

length \: of \: shadow \: of \: pole \:  = 2.4m \: (given)

2x = 2.4m

therefore \: x =  \frac{2.4}{2}  = 1.2m

length \: of \: pole \:  = 7x = 7 \times x = 7 \times 1.2 = 8.4m

SECOND METHOD:

ratio \: of \: length \: of \: pole \: to \: its \: shadow \:  =  \: 7: 2

length \: of \: shadow = 2.4m

let \: length \: of \: pole \:  = x

so

 \frac{7}{2}  =  \frac{x}{2.4}

x =  \frac{7 \times 2.4}{2}  = 8.4m \:  \:  \: (by \: cross \: multiplying)
