Ratio in 2008 = 3:5:6
Assume the population to be: 30 , 50 , 60 [ratio still is same 3:5:6]
In 2009
10% increase in X = 30*110/100 = 33
20% increase in Y = 50*120/100 = 60
15% increase in Z = 60*115/100 = 69

Total population in 2008 = 30+50+60 = 140
Total population in 2009 = 33+60+69 = 162
Increase in population = 162-140 = 22
% increase = 22/140 * 100 = 15.71%
So the total population of the 3 cities (together) increased by 15.71%
Hope it helps.
