Answer:

Let x be the volume of water in P

and y be the volume of water in Q

Ratio of P:Q before Rajeev drinks water=3:4

there fore, x/y=3/4

Volume of water in P after Rajeev drank water=x-40

then ratio become x-40/y=13/20

Let consider x/y=3/4

4x=3y.

4x-3y=0. (1)

x-40/y=13/20

20x-800=13y.

20x-13y=800. (2)

multiply (1) by 5

20x-15y=0. (3)

substract (1) from (3)

20x-13y=800

-20x-(-15y)=-0

0. 2y=800

y=400

substitute y=400 in (1)

4x-3y=0

4x-3(400)=0

4x=1200

x=300

there fore, 300ml water is there in bottle P
