Given :

The ratio of weights of Ginny and Tinny = 4:7

To find:

Weight of Ginny.

Solution:

Let us consider weight to be X.

Now, the ratio of weights of Ginny and Tinny becomes 4 X: 7 X

As Tinny has lost 8 kilograms. Therefore,

The weight of Tinny now is = 7 X - 8

The new ratio of weights of Ginny and Tinny = 2 : 3

\frac{4 X}{7 X - 8} = \frac{2}{3}

After cross multiplication,

12 X = 14 X - 16

X= 8

Ginny's weight = 4 X = 4 × 8 = 32

The weight of Ginny is 32 kilograms.
