So consider these unknown values as = 7x : 9x
Ages after 9 years = 7x + 9, 9x + 9

= Now we will do the multiplication
ages after 9 years ago = 2:3

So, 3( 7x + 9) = 2( 9x + 9 )
= 21x + 27 = 18x + 18
21x - 18x = 27 - 18
3x = 9
x = 9/3
x = 3

So 7x = 7(3) = 21
9x. = 9(3) = 18
