let the two numbers be x & y
the 1st equation is :- x/y=3/8
2nd equation is :- x-y = 115
or , x = 3y/8
Now putting the value of x in 2nd equation , we get
3y/8 - y = 115
on solving we get y = -184
putting the value of y in 1st eqn we get x = -69
so the greater number is -69 . hence option [A] is the answer

Let the numbers be 3× and 8×

According to question:

3×-8×= 115

-5×=115

×=115/-5

×= -23

Therefore, 3×= 3 ×(-23)= -69

8×=8×(-23)= -184

-69 is the larger number.

Verify:

3×-8×=115

-69-(-184)= 115

-69+184= 115

115=115

L.H.S.= R.H.S.

Hence, verified.
