here we need to find sum of the two numbers

let 5x and 8x are be the two numbers [ the ratio of two numbers is 5 : 8 ]

from given data squares of two numbers = 351

   (8x)^{2} - (5x)^{2}  =   351

   64x^{2} - 25x^{2}   =  351

   39x^{2} = 351

   x^{2} = \frac{351}{39}  =  9

    x² = 3²  

   x = 3

therefore the two numbers are  ⇒  5x =  5(3) =  15

                                                    ⇒  8x = 8(3) = 24  

⇒ sum of the two numbers = 15 + 24 = 39
