Given that,

Polarising angle is 58 degrees.

To find,

The change in velocity of light in glass.

Solution

The relation between polarising angle and the refractive index is given by :

n=\tan i_p\\\\n=\tan (58)\\\\n=1.6

Let v is the speed of light in glass. It is given by :

v=\dfrac{c}{n}\\\\v=\dfrac{3\times 10^8}{1.6}\\\\v=1.87\times 10^8\ m/s

The change in velocity of light in glass us :

=c-v\\\\=3\times 10^8-1.87\times 10^8\\\\=1.13\times 10^8\ m/s

Therefore, this is the required solution.
