When an iron nail is dipped into a blue-coloured copper sulphate solution then, iron being more reactive will displace copper from copper sulphate solution and form iron sulphate. Iron sulphate is light green in colour. Therefore the blue colour of the solution fades. Due to the deposition of copper on iron, the nail turns brown.
